Over the summer and autumn of 2021, Glassford Community Group carried out work to create a community garden. Located beside the graveyard, the piece of land that was previously overgrown and unused was transformed into a relaxing and peaceful place to go to contemplate and to look at the fabulous views over Avon Valley.
The land was approved for use by Glassford Church, with funding provided by the Spirit of Lanarkshire Fund. for more information on the fund go to https://www.spiritoflanarkshire.coop/. Funding for the bench was provided by the Masonic Lodge of Glassford.
Initially the work to transform the ground involved volunteers clearing the site ready for the dedicated gardeners of Glassford to take over and bring colour to it.
Below is a selection of images showing how the garden was developed. There are also images of the new bench installed at the top of the Borlands, part funded by a Strathaven and Glassford Community Council Micro Grant.
